Glossary

Clear explanations of the terms around AI for business.

The vocabulary that surrounds AI agents changes quickly and is often used loosely. These are the definitions we use, stated plainly.

Common terms

Business context

The company, brand, product, audience, and terminology information an agent works from — supplied by you rather than assumed.

Connected knowledge

Approved source material that can be indexed and retrieved when relevant, helping an agent ground responses in that material and, where supported, cite the sources used.

Specialized agent

An agent designed for one defined task with a clear objective and expected output, as opposed to a general-purpose assistant.

Grounding

Using retrieved or provided source material to support and constrain an AI response, so important claims can be checked against the underlying evidence.

AEO

Answer engine optimisation — writing so a system answering a question can lift a complete, correct passage from your page.

GEO

Generative engine optimisation — being citable: stating facts plainly and consistently enough that a generative system can rely on you.

Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)

A pattern in which a system retrieves relevant material from an indexed knowledge source before generation, giving the model source context to use instead of relying only on its pretrained knowledge. It is the method behind Web Chat.

Human review

The step where a person reads generated work and decides whether to use it. Klevidence produces drafts and leaves that decision with you rather than enforcing an approval gate.

Brand voice

How a business sounds in writing — plain or formal, warm or direct, and the words it does and does not use. One of the fields business context can carry, applied to a task where it is relevant.
